White- the color of purity!!!

White is a color that evokes feelings of innocence, purity and cleanliness. Whenever I think of color white, various images pops up in my mind like water lilies, Indian flag, my Ipod, the wedding dress and so on..........

It is a color which goes well with every other color enhancing their impact be it blue, red or green. So white is also considered to be a sacrificing color.

Another memory attached with color white is the CHESSBOARD. I remember when I and my brother used to play chess, both of us used to fight for the white side. Now I understood the reason why. Because white is a symbol of victory.

Have you ever noticed the use of this color in language to represent the positive aspect- White Magic and Black Magic, White List and Black List........

White and Black has the highest visual contrast and that is why a chessboard is painted white and black.

As discussed earlier, every color has various inferences depending on person to person and his past experiences.

White is the color of wedding dress in western culture whereas it signifies mourning and death in Hindus. No married Hindu woman is allowed to wear white. It is the symbolic representation of a Hindu widow inspite of the fact that all deities wear white clothes.

It is a color of royalty. Angels are dressed in white robes. It signifies heaven.

Ancient Greeks wore white robes to bed. They believed that wearing white at night ensures pleasant dreams.
White Elephant is a symbol of rarity and White Knight is a symbol of rescuer.

I being a Hindu is always confused whether to consider it as prosperous or not. But I think that education plays the most vital role in framing the mindset of any individual.

My love for color white is indispensable in lieu of all my past learnings and experiences. I plan to marry in the western style just to ensure that the color of my wedding dress is white...............

But I have one bad memory attached to this color. It signifies hospital beds, doctors and the nurses but never mind. A white wedding gown is beyond anything and everything.....

Next color: BLUE:)

BLACK- Saturday's Color!!!

Black is an influential color. Positive or negative, but the impact created is immense.

This color is usually related with evil. You can yourself think, which color Dracula do you imagine in your dreams?

In some religions, it is the symbol of death & mourning. While at times it is used to convey formality.

It is also the symbol of sophistication. I always used to think that why does all the big shots in the world wear black formals. But often black symbolizes mystery and self control. Do not intrude with people who like dressing in black.

Black is the color of sexuality. A girl in black lingerie symbolizes submission.
Various designers launch their entire collection in black color. This color has a slimming quality. That is why a girl's wardrobe is considered to be incomplete without a black dress.

Black in any form makes a person stand out and noticeable.

Inspite of all these qualities, Hindu religion considers black as a negative color. No family member is allowed to wear black on a wedding day or any other auspicious occasion.

Though when I think of Muslims, the first thing that comes to my mind is hijab, which is black in color.

Thus, every person has his own inferences from different colors depending upon the mindset as well as past experiences. Some consider them auspicious others do not.

So what I say is follow what your mood says. Get up......Get dressed........Look into the mirror.............If the color that you wearing depicts your mood well..................KUDOS!!!!

I have a personal liking for black as it is the most misunderstood color.

Next Color: WHITE
Will post soon, happy reading:)

Importance of colors in life......

Physics is one of the worst subjects you would come across in your entire life. I always use to clear on line but somehow I managed to remember a few lessons. Once he taught me that Sir Isaac Newton ( prime culprit for the failure of majority of students) discovered that white light when passed through a prism can be scattered into its constituent colors (VIBGYOR). I fell in love with this theory as I came to know about their importance in one's life.

According to me, the most wonderful gift that parents give their child is a color box. I remember how we gradually move on from crayons to pencil colors and then poster colors and so on.

Try to notice the emotions inflicted on the face of a child when he is given the authority to use various colors on a white paper. He will color every single spot which simply proves that he wants his world to be very colorful.

When the child gets a box of poster colors for the first time, he starts experimenting and develops complementary colors. By mixing two shades, you can make a new color.

Parents buy colors for their children because it is a necessity to pass arts exam in schools. But have you ever thought about the impact of these colors in our life.

Each color is associated with certain things around us. Colors set our moods. It is one of the latest trend in town to use colors efficiently to depict one's various moods.

To know more about color theory and the impact of different colors, keep reading :)

Getting Jiggy with Power Yoga!!!

A person is never too young or too old to reap the exquisite benefits of yoga. It can be practised for various reasons like relaxation, stretching, breathing, meditation or simply because it is the latest trend in town. The new evolved concept of power yoga has changed the stereotypical mindsets of people about yoga.
I thought that yoga is for oldies who do not have the stamina to go to a gym and exercise strenuously to reduce a few inches. But when the Bollywood beauties turned towards yoga, it surely made me raise my eyebrow.
It all started from none other than Americans. In 2008, 9.7 million Americans practised yoga compared to just 5.7 million in 1998 which is a considerable increase in a country where even population increases scarcely. There are a dozen yoga studios in Manhattan. Bollywood stars love following the western trends. Gradually a number of actresses indulged in practising it like Aishwarys Rai Bachchan, Esha Deol, Sameera Reddy, Kareena Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty and the list grows every day.
I did some extensive research and found that yoga has been the fitness mantra of various actresses in the 80s. Hema Malini practises yoga regularly along with her dancing sessions to stay fit. Rekha also had a yoga video in the 80s.
But why is everybody turning to power yoga in this age of treadmills and abs crunches? Maybe it is a new fast-paced variety of all the traditional techniques of shedding extra pounds and looking perfect at all times.
Power yoga has another benefit attached to it. A person no longer has to yearn for his favourite recipes. Eat well and practise yoga is the new mantra for fitness. The latest demand of the audience is that when an actress shed clothes on-screen, she must look perfect, not an inch extra. But why does she need to starve for it? So, power yoga seems to be the easy way out. Moreover, it has spiritual and meditational benefits attached to it.
Kareena Kapoor had her style but she was a little more than required when she joined the industry. She made a good start but eventually her films were not doing well. Then came Tashan which casted Bebo in her zero size figure and the reduced size became the talk of the town.
Shilpa shetty, who was known for her body went the yoga way to promote herself after she won Big Brother, the reality show. Then there was no looking back. Shilpa in Shut Up and Bounce made people go mad about her. She even released her CDs on power yoga in 2008.
It also helps one to reduce stress level. People follow super stars blindly in a country like India. A sexy figure is the biggest dream of every second girl in this country. Power yoga gave us a ray of hope.
According to a research, Asia will be the next growth area for yoga. It is $18 million industry and is being talked about on social networking sites as well.
But power yoga will basically appeal to people who are already quite fit and enjoy exercising. Anyone who has the zeal to reduce must give it a try.
However celebrities that used power yoga technique to reduce were always surrounded by questions. There were speculations raised by the media about the authenticity of the practices used by them to reduce. The truth is not known to anyone. People believe what stars say but the reality is deep rooted into their bosoms.
Well I plan to try the yoga way out. Lets see if it works!!

A Fishy Treatment!!

Wacky spa treatments are the latest trend in town. While previously, fruit extracts were used for skin treatment, today, it’s not simply animal extracts but animals themselves being used for therapeutic purposes. While nightingale droppings are used to exfoliate and brighten the complexion of a person, non- venomous snakes are used for back massage. Ichthyotherapy is a new addition to the above mentioned trends. It is a process of using a special kind of fish for skin cleansing and treatments. Garra Rufa is a species of fish found in Turkey. In ancient times, this fish was bred in pools for therapeutic purposes. It is also known as doctor fish or nibble fish or kangal fish. These are used for treating various skin diseases like psoriasis and eczema.

Today, medicinal purposes are left far behind as compared to the beauty purposes. These fishes are bred by salons for pedicures. Fish pedicure is the latest emerging trend. A person just has to sit dipping his feet in a tank full of fish. These fish are toothless and feed on the dead skin tissues. Their suction-cup mouth lifts dead cells without affecting new cells, leaving the skin softer and easy to manage. This is followed by a normal pedicure. It can be a perfect date for any couple, getting pampered as well as utilising time productively. This relaxing treatment is very useful for people who are always on their heels. Fish pedicure has been the hot pick of most beauty junkies. The process doesn’t hurt at all. It is like a small tickling sensation which a person starts enjoying after sometime. It is a symbiotic relationship, wherein the fish get food and the person’s feet turn softer. This is good treatment for everyone who likes to have nice feet.

Fish pedicure is one of the weirdest spa treatments offered till date. It is beneficial but there are a few foggy details attached to this process.

Firstly, there are a few health concerns attached to this treatment. This type of pedicure can leave small cuts or scratches at your feet which have the potential to become infected with fungus and bacteria.

Secondly, the treatment meted out to these fish is often inhumane. Often the salon owners keep them on no or very little food so that they attack a person’s feet more enthusiastically .

There was a time when the popularity of fish pedicure became the cause of tourism bolster in Turkey but today this treatment has been made available in USA and various other regions of Asia. All metro cities in India offer this treatment at various places. Some countries are still sceptical about the health concerns attached with this treatment and are reluctant towards its use for beauty treatments.
